WHEN YOU SETTLE DOWN, SETTLE UP. Your shoes crunch the pine needles on the earth in front of you as you roam the trail network to rest at a bench on the park lookout near the summit. You smile to yourself. This is living on Kirschner Mountain.
The mountain begins on a rise and as such even the lowest home sites will have views. Those who buy here will be the founding families, setting the tone for the whole of the mountain. Here they will be closest to the entrance and also that much closer to the orchard, park, trailhead, golf course and forest. Everything is close by — camping, fishing, hiking and all the watersports.
As the mountain opens itself, other home sites will become available, revealing different views and opportunities. Some select multi-family homes will also find their place over time.
About the Mountain
Those brought up in Kelowna may know it. Some have walked the lazy winding trail at the base, others have explored its many sides and layers, but most have only a vague idea of its curvy profile and amazing depth. For those not from around here Kirschner Mountain is up Hwy 33, past Garner Pond, to the new traffic light at Loseth. Turn right and proceed two kilometers to Lago Vista, and some of the best views in the valley.
What is emerging at this very special place is something that was well worth the wait for all those many years. The words neighbourhood, community and retreat come to mind, but this is something more. This is true mountain living. This is Kirschner Mountain.
You will be excused in thinking this is a resort.
While above and apart from Kelowna, the location is only minutes to Orchard Park Shopping centre, about twenty minutes to downtown and the lake; twelve minutes to the airport and university, and less than five from schools, medical clinics, grocery stores and the like. It is a part of the city but considerably more a part of quiet country living.
Big White village is just 45 minutes away with Silver Star a few minutes more. The region has over 30 golf courses, with the closest minutes away. As for vineyards and orchards, they border you along with a creek and Scenic Canyon Regional park. This is living on a rather grand scale anyway you care to measure.
Kirschner Mountain does have a city side – it is close to it all its amenities but you will feel right at home in its countryside. The mountain is home to owls, chipmunks, roving quail and pheasant, deer, falcons as well as regularly visiting eagles and hawks. The family has even seen the odd moose walking through to only nature knows where.
Countryside means peace and quiet. It also means some neighbours down the way may just have some fresh cherries or peaches with wildflower honey. Here life is rich, season in and season out, in ways those living in the city only dream about.
